How the Moraine Lake shuttle works
Private cars cannot drive to Moraine Lake, so most visitors use the Parks Canada shuttle. It runs from the Park and Ride at the Lake Louise Ski Resort, 1 Whitehorn Road, and you need a reservation. One ticket covers the ride to Moraine Lake, the Lake Connector between Moraine Lake and Lake Louise, and the ride back to the Park and Ride.
The shuttle ticket does not include park entry. See the Banff park pass guide for passes. The 2026 season ran from 1 June to 12 October, weather permitting. Check the booking start for the next season before you plan.

Booking rules in 2026
How reservations and check-in worked.
Booking opened in April
The 2026 season opened for booking on 15 April at 08:00 Mountain time, with 40 percent of the seats. The other 60 percent came out 2 days before each travel date at 08:00. Plan to book early.
Check in within your hour
You check in at the ski resort at 1 Whitehorn Road during the one-hour window on your reservation. The boarding pass from check-in is what you show on the Lake Connector.
Alpine Start needs a day's notice
Reserve by 15:00 the day before. There are no walk-up tickets. The bus leaves from the upper Lakeshore parking lot, and you show proof of parking payment. This service has no accessible vehicle.
Accessible seats
Regular shuttles in 2026 offered accessible vehicles on request through the normal reservation. Check the current rules for accessible access before you travel.
From Banff: the Roam link
No direct public bus ran from Banff to Moraine Lake in 2026.
Roam Transit did not run its direct route 10 in 2026. From Banff you took route 8X from the Banff High School Transit Hub to Lake Louise Lakeshore, then the Parks Canada Lake Connector on to Moraine Lake. The Roam Super Pass covers this, but it must start in Banff, with the same-day return reserved. You cannot buy it at Lake Louise.
| Roam Super Pass 2026 | Fare |
|---|---|
| Adults | CAD 30 |
| Seniors 65 and over, youth 13 to 18 | CAD 15 each |
| Ages 12 and under | Free, reservation needed |
| Booking fee | CAD 3 per booking |
Eighteen-year-olds pay the youth rate only with a high school ID. Bookings opened at 09:00 Mountain time: for June on 23 April, July on 25 May, August on 22 June and September and October on 27 July. The Super Pass season was 1 June to 12 October 2026. Be at the stop 20 minutes before your departure. The last Lake Connector toward Moraine Lake left at 16:30 or 17:30, depending on the service, so aim for the early afternoon at the latest. A plain route 8X ticket to Lake Louise cost CAD 12.50 for adults one way and does not give you a seat to Moraine Lake. For the drive from Calgary, see the Banff getting there guide.
Private buses and tours
The other way to the lake.
Licensed commercial buses may drive to Moraine Lake in the season, from June to mid-October, and approved trips can run outside regular shuttle hours. A private ticket is a different product from the Parks Canada shuttle: the return time, the time at the lake and the combination with Lake Louise are set by the operator. Compare options on the tours page, and check parking if you drive to the Park and Ride yourself.
